Porsche Sports up the Cayenne with New 414hp GTS Model, Bows at the Beijing Auto Show

If you don't want the Turbo version of the new Cayenne but still need more power and sportier characteristics than the Cayenne S, Porsche today announced that it will debut the new Cayenne GTS at the Auto China 2012 motor show in Beijing later this month.Following a similar recipe to its predecessor as well as the Panamera GTS that was revealed at last year's Los Angeles Auto Show, the new edition of Porsche's premium crossover offers a more powerful engine and a tauter chassis with a lower ride height.
The Cayenne GTS is motivated by an uprated version of the Cayenne S' 4.8-liter naturally aspirated V8 delivering an extra 20hp for a total output of 414hp (420PS). An eight-speed Tip-tronic S automatic transmission with an integrated auto start/stop function and a lower final drive transfers power to all four wheels.
Porsche says the Cayenne GTS accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds (0-60mph in 5.4 seconds), reaching 160 km/h (100mph) in 13.3 seconds. The SUV's top speed is 261 km/h (162mph), while its fuel consumption on the European driving cycle is 10.7 lt/100km (21.9mpg US or 26.4mpg UK).
The GTS rides on a modified suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) that lowers the body height by 24 mm compared to the Cayenne S.
Visually, the Cayenne GTS gets the same front end as the Turbo model, frames and trims finished in high-gloss black, prominent side skirts and wider wheel arches as well as a bespoke roof spoiler with a twin-wing profile, while riding on new 20-inch RS wheels with a unique offset. Porsche also added two new colors named Peridot Metallic and Carmine Red.
Inside, GTS features eight-way adjustable leather front sports seats with Alcantara accents along with a Sound Symposer that is said to channel authentic engine intake sounds into the cabin. Moreover, Porsche will offer a new Sport Chrono package as an option.
The new Cayenne GTS will reach European dealerships in July with a price tag of €90,774 in Germany and £67,147 in the UK, while U.S. sales start in August with a base MSRP of $82,050, not including a $975 delivery charge.
