Qoros finally shows their three new cars for the Geneva Motor Show

The half Chinese, half Israelite company has finally revealed what they are bringing to the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks. Qoros will introduce the production version of the Qoros 3 Sedan, together with two new concepts: The Qoros 3 Cross Hybrid Concept and the Qoros 3 Estate Concept. Those two cars look almost production ready so we don't expect to see big changes for the production cars.

The Qoros 3 Sedan is actually a good looking car. It is approximately 4615mm long and 1839mm wide, so it is rather large for its segment. Engine options include two four-cylinder 1.6 liter units, one naturally-aspirated with an output of 126hp (93kW) and 155Nm, and a turbocharged version producing 156hp (115kW) and 210Nm of maximum torque. Both engines have a six-speed manual transmission as standard, with a six-speed dual clutch transmission as optional.

Qoros, together with AVL, is working on a three-cylinder 1.2liter turbocharged engine and an all-new four-cylinder 1.6liter turbocharged engine, both with GDI (gasoline direct injection). In the interior it is worth mentioning the eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is standrad in all version of the Qoros 3 Sedan.

The first of the concepts is the Qoros 3 Cross Hybrid which is a crossover with a hatchback body and an advanced hybrid drivetrain, composed of a three-cylinder turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine, an electric motor above the rear axle, and a second electric motor called the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) mounted between the petrol engine and the transmission.

The last car is the Qoros 3 Estate which is basically the Sedan with an elongated roofline and a larger tailgate allowing for a larger luggage capacity. Engines options should be the same of the Sedan.

Sales of the Qoros 3 Sedan will start in China in the second half of 2013, with the first European sales following later in the year. Production will take place in a new assembly plant in Changshu, China, and the development had the help of well known companies like Magna Steyr, TRW, Continental, Bosch, Getrag, Benteler, Lear, Microsoft, Harman, Neusoft-Alpine and Iconmobile.

Qoros shows the GQ3

With many teasers in the last few weeks, today Qoros finally released some pictures of the companys future C-Segment flagship sedan, the GQ3.

But together with these pictures not much else was revealed. The car was designed by Gert Volker Hildebrand, who worked for Volkswagen, Seat, Opel, Mitsubishi, and was responsible in 2000 for the return of the Mini. It has a width of 1,84 meters, 19inch wheels, and a 8inch touchscreen with the "swipe' function to allow control of the navigation system, "cloud" connections and in-car networks.

The aspect of the GQ3 seems like a mixture of several other models, especially like the Skoda Superb, Volkswagen Passat, with some touches of a Kia. This isn't a bad thing, the car doesn't look that bad.

About the name, GQ3, Qoros decided that the G will be used for sedans, the Q is for the Qoros brand and the 3 is the segment of the car, which is the C-Segment. Besides this sedan, Qoros will also show in March at the Geneva Motor Show two concept crossovers.

Short News: Qoros teases their future SUV

A few weeks ago Qoros showed us some teasers of their new flagship sedan, and now it is time to reveal a little more about their upcoming SUV.

It will use the same platform of the sedan, but the engine won't be the same. The sedan will use a 1.6liter, and the SUV will use a 1.8 or a 2.0liter engine. Sales are scheduled to start in 2013, while the official reveal might happen in March, at the Geneva Motor Show.

Short News: Qoros shows us the their flagship sedan for 2020

This particular project was done by the 22 year old designer from London, Jamie Barrett, helped by Gert Hildebran, Philippe Eberl and Tim Pilsbury, helping him get a job in the Shanghai design studio where we will work in the design of Qoros future models.

The objective of this concept was to show the lines that will serve as a basis for the other models that will be released by the Chinese company. Although the front can remember a bit of an Audi R8, the car stands out enough to not be called a copy of something else.

Qoros won a dispute over the name Quoris. Kia wasn't happy

But what is Qoros? It is a brand created in 2007 formerly known as Chery Quantum Auto Company and changed its name in 2011 to Qoros, owned in equal parts by Chery Automobile and Israel Corporation.

Qoros wants to present three models in 2013 and start sales at the same year. They pretend to achieve sales of 450.000 units per year.

This brand was known more recently due to a dispute with Kia because of the name Quoris, which would be the name of the Kia K9 in Europe, because it was too similar to Qoros, so Kia lost in a German court.
