Audi wants an even faster RS6 Avant. Will be called "Plus"

Stephan Reil, boss of Audi's Quattro division recently told in a interview with CarMagazine that they will soon introduce a "Plus" version of the RS6 Avant with over 600hp. That will be an increase of almost 50hp! Reil also added that he wants to save Audi's high-performance naturally aspirated engines while also making future RS cars lighter.

In 2004 Audi created a RS6 Avant Plus with several improved parts, like the brakes and suspension, and more power, but it was a limited edition. Since then Audi introduced the TT RS Plus and the R8 V10 Plus which are full production models, so the new RS6 Avant Plus won't be a limited edition.

The future Plus models will have more modifications besides just more power. One of the main objectives is to reduce weight with the use of carbon fiber and in some cases aluminum.

After a few hours, here you have more pictures of the Audi RS6 Avant

After less than 12 hours later we have more pictures and confirmed information coming from Audi about the new RS6, this time in a darker grey, but if you liked the red one more, you also have new pictures of that. All the details given here are confirmed.

In this new pictures the car is a little bit different, it doesn't have the quattro logo in the lower portion of the front grille and has some type of fake fog light cover, plus new not so dark wheels.

Audi dropped the 5.0liter twin-turbo V10 with 579hp (571bhp) and 650Nm (479lb/ft) for a new 4.0liter twin-turbo V8 developing 560hp (552bhp) and 700Nm (516lb/ft) of torque.

The new engine is connect to an also new eight-speed automatic transmission which drives the four wheels via the quattro system. Supposedly will do a 0 to 100km/h run in just 3,9 seconds and will reach 304km/h (189mph) with the Dynamic Plus package. This is 0,6 seconds and 30km/h (19mph) faster than the current version. Normal models will be limited to 250km/h (155mph) and there is an intermediate package called Dynamic with a top speed of 280km/h (174mph).

The car is 100kg (220lb) lighter, even if it measures almost 5 meters. it has a cylinder management system that helps to obtain an average fuel consumption of 9,8liters every 100km and a Ki-fi Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System with 15 speakers (1,200 Watt).

2013 Audi RS6 Avant looks mean and crazy

Words cannot describe how great this RS6 Avant looks. Even if Audi continues to be criticized for having an entire range that looks all the same, this is something special, this is an easily recognizable car that will make people look twice.

Let's go directly to the technical part and realize how much better this new RS6 is over the older one. According to autowp.ru, Audi dropped the 5.0liter twin-turbo V10 with 579hp (571bhp) and 650Nm (479lb/ft) for a new 4.0liter twin-turbo V8 developing 560hp (552bhp) and 700Nm (516lb/ft) of torque.

The new engine is connect to an also new eight-speed automatic transmission which drives the four wheels via the quattro system. Supposedly will do a 0 to 100km/h run in just 3,9 seconds and will reach 304km/h (189mph). This is 0,6 seconds and 30km/h (19mph) faster than the current version.

Like i said above, this is a car that will stand out on the road, with larger wheels and wheel arches, new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, spoiler and diffuser. Even the front grille has been divided to incorporate the rather large quattro logo.

Inside we have the normal flat-bottom steering wheel, red details in the instrument panel gauges, a lot of carbon fiber and leather and Alcantara sports seats.
