2013 Mercedes E 63 AMG and AMG S-Model

Besides the normal AMG version, Mercedes will provide an even more powerful version of the E-Class, the AMG S-Model which only comes with the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. For now this AMG versions are only available as an Estate and Saloon.

The 5.5liter bi-turbo V8 produces 410kW (557hp) at 5500rpm and 720Nm at 1750-5250rpm for the normal AMG version, while in the S-Model it has 430kW (585hp) at 5500rpm and 800Nm at 1750-5000rpm. This torque figures allow the RWD Saloon and the Estate to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 4.2 seconds, but it takes 3.7 seconds (3.8 for the Estate) if you have the AWD 4MATIC system and 3.6 seconds (the Estate takes 3.7) for the S-Model.

Getting all that power to the road requires a lot from the gearbox, so Mercedes fitted the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission with four different modes to keep things smooth. The four modes – "C" (Controlled Efficiency), "S" (Sport), "S+" (Sport plus) and "M" (Manual) – offer the driver a personal set-up. In "C" mode, the ECO start/stop function is active and switches off the eight-cylinder engine when the vehicle is stopped.

The combined fuel consumption (NEDC) is one of the best in its segment, with 9.8l/100km and emissions of 230g/km for the RWD, while the 4MATIC versions varies between 10.3 and 10.5l/100km and emissions range from 242 to 246g/km.

Mercedes E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet facelift revealed

Mercedes revealed today pictures of the facelifted E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet, after showing the Saloon and Estate models a few weeks ago.

The revised front with new headlamps with a single headlamp lens, while the LEDs still remember the "twin-headlamp" look, is the same as the Saloon and Estate. But now the characteristic line that followed the rear wheel arch and ended in the taillights, created in "honor" of the Pontoon, is back in the Coupe and Cabriolet.

There is a wide choice of petrol and diesel engines, from 4 to 8 cylinder, and ranging in output from 170hp (125kW) to 408hp (300kW) with a six-speed manual gearbox or the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission.

The first teaser of the Mercedes E-Class facelift [Video]

Images of the new E-Class, without camouflage, appeared online a few weeks ago, as you can see below, and now Mercedes-Benz has decided to show a small sample of the facelift focusing on the all LED headlamps.

The lights are full LED with an agressive looking DRL (day running lights) and adaptive high and low beams. As we can see from the video and the picture the new E-Class loses the four separate headlamps to a more conventional two in the front.
