Audi also reveals the sportier version of their hatchback, the S3 Sportback

Seems someone at Audi didn't liked the attention given the the new Mercedes A-Class AMG (A45) and thought "hey, let's release pictures and more information about our fast hatchback", too bad the S3 Sportback is less powerful and slower compared with the Mercedes.

And like the Mercedes the exterior styling package is almost the same to the S-Line version, while there are no other differences to the 3-door S3 besides the two extra doors, roof rails and different taillights.

The new S3 Sportback weighs 1.445 kilograms (3.186lb) which is 70 kilograms (154.32lb) less than the previous model, and just with the car is now faster, besides consuming less fuel and polluting less.

The improved 1.984cc four-cylinder engine in the S3 Sportback now produces 300hp (221kW) @ 5.500rpm and 380Nm (280lb/ft) available from 1.800 to 5.500rpm. You can choose between the six-speed manual transmission (0 to 100km/h in 5.5 seconds with an average fuel consumption of 7l/100 km or 33,60 US mpg) and the six-speed S tronic (0 to 100km/h in just 5 seconds and an average fuel consumption of 6.9l/100 km or 34,09 US mpg). The top speed is electronically limited at 250km/h or 155mph.

And all those 300 ponies go to the four wheels through the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system and a redesigned multi-plate clutch for a better performance in all types of weather.

But in the end it is still slower and weaker than the A45 AMG, still i am sure Audi is working on a RS3 version. Don't miss them at the Geneva Motor Show!

PS: Funny things. Audi seems to use the same background for all the pictures of the A3, and Mercedes introduced a white car with an interior red trim and stitching, while Audi has a red car with an interior white trim and stitching.

Audi RS7 Sportback revealed in Detroit

Audi revealed another RS, or RennSport, car that besides the impressive look, has equally impressive performance figures, and all thanks to the 4.0liter TFSI engine.

The twin-turbo V8 displaces 3.993 c and develops an amazing 412kW (560hp) available between 5.700 and 6.700rpm, and 700Nm (516.29lb/ft) of torque are available between 1.750 and 5.500rpm. All of that power and torque is directed to the ground through an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox and the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.

Top speed is limited to 250km/h (62.14mph) but you can pay for the optional dynamic package or dynamic package plus, which increase the values to 280km/h (173.98mph) and 305km/h (189.52mph), respectively. Still it consumes on average just 9.8 liters of fuel per 100km (24 US mpg), thanks to cylinder deactivation, meaning most of the time it will work as a four-cylinder engine, when under low to medium loads and engine speeds.

The RS 7 adaptive air suspension lowers the body by 20 millimeters (0.79 in) and is combined with adaptive damping, but you can choose the sport suspension plus with dynamic ride control (DRC) with steel springs and three-stage adjustable dampers.

As an option we have 21inch wheels, 420 millimeter (16.54in) carbon fiber ceramic discs with anthracite gray calipers, exterior mirrors with exposed carbon housings, all-LED headlights, a head-up display, a comfort package, sport exhaust system, among other possible choices.

Audi A6 e-tron Sportback Plug-in Hybrid Concept

AutoBild Render
At the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013, the Audi A6 e-tron Sportback will be revealed to the world, showing a new design that eliminates the use of the traditional single grille, used in all the current models of the German brand.

Will have the 2 liter petrol engine that will be used in S3 and an electric motor, connected to the rear wheels, producing a total of 400hp. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in less than 5 seconds, will have a limited top speed of 250km/h and a consumption of 2.5litres every 100km. A full battery charge will power the car, in pure electric mode, between 75 to 100km. That is really good considering the car weighs almost 2 tons.

Besides the new front, the car will have a length of approximately five meters (197 inches) with a long wheelbase and short overhangs, and a sloping roof line which is reminiscent of the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake. Sales should start in 2017 with a €70.000 price tag in Germany.
