2014 Porsche 911 GT3 (991) was also revealed ahead of the Geneva Motor Show [Updated]

One of the most anticipated cars of the Geneva Motor Show is the Porsche 911 GT3 (991) and although still lacking a day to start we can see it very clearly in these pictures. But once again they weren't officially released by the company so we know nothing about the sports car, so we have to wait for the press release.

The new 911 GT3 isn't so different in comparison with its "brothers" but it does have a new front bumper with larger openings, headlamps with a darker inside, an also new rear bumper and an air outlet under the large rear spoiler to help cool down the turbocharged engine.

The engine should be a 3.8 liter flat six possibly with 450hp, but besides the power bump the new GT3 should also be lighter thanks to the use of carbon fiber and the removal of some equipment. The gearbox will be the same one used in other Porsche models, the dual-clutch PDK automatic transmission.

[Update] Seems the new GT3 is more powerful than i thought. While it does have a 3.8 liter engine the power output was raised to 475hp (350kW) with a redline at 9000rpm. It will accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in just 3.5 seconds and will have a top speed of 315km/h (195mph). James May won't like this part but it took only 7 minutes and 30 seconds to complete a lap of the
Nürburgring Nordschleife

Porsche 911 GT3 Cup introduced [Video]

Based on the soon to be presented Porsche 911 GT3, the Cup is a natural evolution of its own design with new front and rear bumpers, a rather large rear wing, an double exhaust mounted in the middle of the car and the normal slicks race tires from Michelin.

Inside we have the normal characteristics of a racing car, including a flat-bottomed steering wheel, digital instruments, a completely new racing seat and of course a roll cage to ensure the safety of the pilot.

The engine is a 3.8liter flat-six developing around 460hp (338kW) connected to a six-speed "dog-type" transmission that is operated via steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.

It will cost €181.200 (£146.000 or $234.000) without taxes and will only be able to compete in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
