Abarth brings four special Fiat 500 to Geneva
Besides the Abart Punto SuperSport the Italian brand, owned by Fiat, will also bring four new sportier versions of the Fiat 500. The cars based on the 500 are named Abarth 695 'Record', Abarth 695 'Scorpione', Abarth 695 'Hype' and Abarth 695 'Black Diamond'. It's an overload of Abarth 695's.
It's better to just do a sort of list with the main aspects of each car by just partly quoting Abarth/Fiat.
The Abarth 695 'Record' features Matte Competizione Grey bodywork, complemented by a roof featuring the distinctive Abarth checkerboard, Matte black 695 design rims and red Brembo® brake calipers. Inside we have 'Abarth Corsa by Sabelt®' in black leather with Alcantara® inserts and top stitching, both red with glossy carbon shell and cushion base.
The Abarth 695 'Scorpione' boasts a glossy black livery with matte bonnet traversed by a band produced using a polishing treatment with the door mirrors and the pillar trim in glossy carbon., and Magnesium-coloured 695 design rims wrapped arount the red Brembo® brake calipers. Black leather Sabelt® seats with the central part in grey perforated Alcantara® are embroidered with the 695 and 'fuoriserie' logos in red. Matte carbon elements are also evident on the dashboard, seat squab, sill and gear panel, while aluminium pedals and kick plate.
In the Abarth 695 'Hype' we have a two-tone livery with the lower part in Matte Record Grey and the upper part in Matte Green separated by a yellow line. The 'esseesse' design rims are in matte titanium painted with a special finish reminiscent of the metal and there's an Abarth scorpion 'tattoo' on the roof achieved by a 'ton sur ton' manual polishing technique. Inside we get 'Abarth Corsa by Sabelt®' in black leather with Alcantara® military green inserts embroidered with the '695' and 'fuoriserie' logos in yellow with glossy carbon shell and cushion base.
And the last one, the Abarth 695 'Black Diamond', has a two-tone livery in Record Grey and Scorpione Black, both matte, a chrome liner and magnesium-coloured 695 design rims. Like the other cars it also has Red Brembo® brake calipers and hubcaps. The interior include seats upholstered entirely in sand beige leather, with containment strips featuring single-layer padding. The dashboard and gear plate are distinguished by a special matte-finish carbon trim, as are the pedals, sill and kick plates.
In the end you can have those cars with only one engine, the 1.4 liter Turbo T-Jet 16v engine with 180hp mated to the electrically-operated manual Abarth Competizione gearbox with steering wheel controls. The Brembo brakes have 305mm brake discs that can be dismantled with fixed four-piston caliper and special Köni® shock absorbers with FSD technology. Inside Abarth fitted all models with a JBL® sound system (created by Harman® specially for Abarth) with nine speakers and an eight channel amplifier for 400 watts of overall power.

Meet the improved (Fiat) Abarth Punto SuperSport
Abarth will bring one sportier version of the Fiat Punto to the Geneva Motor Show. The Punto is now called the Abarth Punto Supersport and will come with an upgraded 1.4 liter Multijet engine with 180hp (132kW) at 5750rpm allowing it to reach a top speed of 216km/h (134mph) and acceleration of 0-100km/h (62mph) in just 7.5 seconds.
Outside changes include 17 inch diamond alloys with 5 'claws' plus matte black interior paintwork and Brembo® brake calipers. While in the interior we have as standard an automatic climate control system, Blue&Me system with controls on the steering wheel, sporting front seats in cloth and leather steering wheel.
But that is not enough you have an optional Abarth Köni® suspension kit with FSD technology and the Abarth Brembo® brake system kit.

The Fiat 500 will get a bigger brother. Here comes the 500XL
The Italian brand is really determined to fully exploit the name 500, creating another version that has nothing small. This will be called the 500XL and will have a length of 4350mm, 200mm more over the 500L, and almost 800mm more over the normal Fiat 500.
The largest changes occur on the back, with the obvious increase in length, there is now room for a third row of seats if you want it, or just a bigger boot capable of over 500 liters.
The design of the rear lights is similar to the one in the 500L, and so is the overall shape with the exception of a little spoiler to allow for a better airflow.
Presentation should happen later this year, but for now we can assume that most of the engines found in the Fiat 500L will also be available in the 500XL with the possibility of the weaker ones being replaced for a few more powerful engines due to the increased weight of the car.

Marchionne says Fiat and Chrysler will merge next year. Alfa Romeo isn't for sale.
Sergio Marchionne, which we all know is the President of the Fiat Group, said recently in an interview that he wants to buy the remaining 41.5% of Chrysler directly from Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association (VEBA), which is an United Auto Workers pension fund.
But the two parts don't agree on the value of those shares, with VEBA accusing Marchionne of underestimating the value of Chrysler. "VEBA and Fiat have a different opinion on how much Chrysler is worth but I believe we will be able to find a solution to the problem in 2014," said Sergio Marchionne.
Furthermore he also said that Alfa Romeo is not for sale. This is relevant since there have been rumors that the Volkswagen Group wanted to buy the Italian brand. He even added that "Alfa is one of the premium companies that we want to focus on developing over the coming years", "We're certainly not going to sell the firm, especially not to Volkswagen" and "I have to admit, I find it hard to say the name Volkswagen. I have to practice all morning beforehand."
Harsh words.

Marchionned added that "For sure it's coming back this year with the 4C. With the Alfa Romeo 4C," and "We are finalizing the car now, so it should be here this year.". The objective is to increase Alfa's sales and reduce the losses of Fiat in Europe.

Fiat Panda and Panda 4x4 coming to China!
The Pandas are coming and i don't mean the bear but the small car from the Italian company. Fiat intends to patent the Panda 4x4 and Panda in the Chinese market so production can be begin by the new Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture.
The Guangzhou-Fiat partnership produces the Viaggio sedan and soon will produce the hatchback version. Production of both Pandas will start, in the best of chances, in 2014, and may facilitate production of the 500 in China, since the platform use by the Panda is the same.

Marchione re-elected president of the ACEA. Peace with VW CEO Martin Winterkorn? No.
Fiat SpA Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne and Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn aren't what you would call good friends, i would say that they are precisely the opposite of that but seemed to have made peace at the Paris Motor Show on September, 28.
This all started when Marchionne started criticizing the VW Group for creating a "bloodbath" in Europe thanks to the prices and discounts they were giving to their clients, thus remaining the number one and aggravating the situation of other companies.
Both brands threatened to leave the ACEA, and VW even called for the resignation of Marchione but in September peace was made, or it seemed that way. The Italian company, which owns Chrysler, has a market share of 11,4% in the U.S.A., almost 8% more than Volkswagens' 4%, and they will take advantage of that by giving $1,000 rebates to current VW owners in the U.S.A..
Still Sergio Marchionne was re-elected yesterday as the president of the Europe's main carmaking lobby group, European Automobile Manufacturers Association. In great difficulties, French companies continue to remain without a word to say about the domain of VW and the problems with falling car sales in the European market, so it seems it's up to Fiat to do something about that.
Volkswagen had a market share rise to 24,8%, while Fiat dropped to 6,4% in the old continent, so this fight is still not over.

2013 Fiat 500L Trekking
Together with the North American version of the 500L, Fiat will also show the new 500L Trekking in the Los Angeles Motor Show that starts today. The most obvious change between the European and N.A. version are the new headlights.
Comparing with the "normal" model, the 500L Trekking gains protections around the body made in plastic and painted in black, a redesigned front bumper and rear bumper with some minor changes, and a higher ground clearance.
There will be only one engine available for the American market, which is the 1.4liter MultiAir with 160hp connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. On the inside we will be able to find the UConnect system with a 6.5 inch touchscreen.

Fiat 500L with 165bhp
An editor from the italian website AutoEdizione was in Balocco to test the new Panda 4x4 when he noticed a weird looking 500L painted in red with duck tape hiding part of the lights and grill. Fiat was clearly showing a sportier version of the Fiat 500L and even put in big letters on the side of the car the engine it had, which is a 1.4 MultiAir Turbo DDCT with 165hp.
The engine is the same used in the Abarth Punto, but more interesting are those four letters, DDCT, which correspond to the same dual clutch gearbox used by Alfa Romeo (TCT) and that has been really impressive and collecting a lot of good reviews.
