Toyota FT-86 Open concept has its online presentation [Video]

With only a few days until the start of the Geneva Motor Show some companies continue to present their latest models, such as Toyota. The Japanese company will bring the concept of the convertible version of the GT86 aka Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ's brother, saying it serves to ascertain the "possible launch" of the open top version.

When you remove the top of a car a lot of work is needed to prevent the vehicle from breaking in the middle but Toyota says that for now they just took to roof off and have "identified numerous areas within which further engineering evaluation must be undertaken". This got me thinking that they aren't really inclined into building this car or at least the process is still in the beginning.

But when the company created the GT86 they said it was done with a convertible in mind, therefore, not many changes would be necessary to create it. Let's wait and see.

We do know is the the concept features the same engine as the GT86 with 1998cc, around 160hp per ton and a weight of 1257kg (2771lb), meaning a power output close to 200hp. The GT86 uses a manual gear shift or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

For the Geneva Motor Show the FT86 Open Concept has 20 inch wheels, a white exterior, navy blue fabric roof and pure a bright white interior upholstery and trim to make it more attractive to the visitors.

Gazoo Racing creates the GRMN SPORTS FR Concept PLATINUM [Video]

Gazoo Racing has a long partnership with Toyota, creating several concepts and racing cars for the Japanese automaker, and recently revealed another at the Tokyo Auto Salon, based on the Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S, called the GRMN SPORTS FR Concept PLATINUM.

I have to be honest, the car looks like one of the concepts shown by Lotus in 2010, but that isn't a bad thing. Gazoo changed a lot of things, starting with the redesigned front, with new headlamps, tail lights, bumpers, hood and a rather large rear wing.

On the inside we have a roll cage, bucket seats with four-point seat belt, a new steering wheel and several other changes with a two-tone interior.

For a lot of people the 200hp taken from the 4U-GSE naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine is just not enough, so the good people at Gazoo Racing added a turbocharger and a supercharger raising the maximum power to 330hp and the torque to 431Nm (318 lb/ft).

Connected to the boxer engine is a six-speed manual transmission which in turn is attached to a mechanical limited slip differential driving the rear wheels. Other changes have been made to the suspension, brakes and wheels.
