Ferrari LaFerrari Concept Manta

Monday, 18 March 2013

The unseen concepts of the La Ferrari (Project F150 aka F70).

When a company decides to create a new model they give a certain stylistic freedom to their designers to create their vision of that future vehicle, and Ferrari is no exception with the La Ferrari. When one design is chosen by the management team, board of directors or even the President, that single design gets to be detailed to a deeper level. But what you have below is the designs that never got to see the daylight.

The first image you can see below is, in my opinion, a better choice for the rear of the car, but unfortunately it wasn't the one to be produced. Enjoy the rest of the images and don't forget to tell us what you think. See more pictures in the Source.

Here you have it, the La Ferrari. We knew it as the F150, F70 and the Enzo replacement [Video]

This is a little weird, the Italian company decided to call their new supercar, the car we all have been eagerly waiting, La Ferrari or The Ferrari. Are they telling us this is the ultimate Ferrari, the ultimate supercar, the best ever? Well, it is indeed the fastest but it isn't an amazing looking car. If you can see it live at the Geneva Motor Show

But before i make any comments about the look of the car, let's start with the engine and everything that makes the car actually drive. It has a 6.3 liter V12 engine joined by an electric motor for an overall power output of 963hp and over 900Nm (664lb/ft). Both are connected to a seven-speed DCT gearbox that drives the rear wheels.

The V12 engine alone produces 800cv @9000rpm (redline 9250rpm) and 700Nm (516lb/ft) @6750rpm, while the electric motor helps the supercar with 163hp (120kW). CO2 emissions average 330g/km. To power the electric motors there's a lithium-ion battery sourced by Samsung.

Ferrari didn't reveal specific values for the performance, they only said it has a top speed over 350km/h (217mph), will accelerate from standstill to 100km/h (62mph) in under three seconds, to 200km/h (124mph) under seven seconds and will reach 300km/h (186mph) in 15 seconds.

The "La Ferrari" has a length of 4702mm (185.1"), a width of 1992mm (78.4"), a height of 1116mm (43."9) and a wheelbase with 2665mm (104.9") for a weight distribution of 41% in the front and 59% in the rear.

Some of the main features are the new hybrid system (HY-KERS), that has 2 electric motors, one mated to the petrol engine and another used to power auxiliary devices, and a new carbon fiber monocoque that has 27% more torsional rigidity and 22% more beam stiffness in comparison with the Enzo.

Ferrari fitted their new supercar with an active aerodynamics system (front and rear diffusers, guide vane on the underbody and rear spoiler) that generates down-force when needed without compromising the car’s overall drag coefficient.

To help save weight they even made the seat fixed and will be shaped to the owner, but both the pedal box and steering wheel are adjustable. Production is limited to 499 vehicles.

Unfortunately the look of the car isn't that spectacular. It's a Ferrari but there isn't anything really new and fantastic, it has too many details from other models of the Italian company. My guess is it isn't going to age well.

Ferrari F150 Countdown | Is It Like This?

Sunday, 17 February 2013

Is this the new Ferrari F150? No, still it looks great.

We are all eagerly awaiting for the new Enzo replacement also known as the Ferrari F150 (or F70) that will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show but recently the designer Josiah LaColla decided he wanted to show his own vision of the car according to what was seen in earlier spy pictures.

And the result looks great. But according to someone that supposedly saw the car in a private event, "not even close", still i wouldn't mind seeing it on the road.

This is how Josiah LaColla describes his design.
While the real deal is still tight under wraps back in Italy, we photoshoppers have settled onto our Wacom tablets across the globe to try to piece together the identity of Ferrari's latest Hypercar. These images are my best guess- and using a slew of references ranging from the cracks in the mule-car camouflage to Ferrari's latest form language and the infamous leaked plaque, it's indeed an educated guess.

Taking a step away from other rendered speculations, this version makes an attempt to get into Pininfarina's shoes, keeping the body as clean as possible while integrating all the necessary ventilation. The mule's peculiar front fender/door intersection indicates the F150 will have a very open-wheeled look and feel. How close is this to the real fast-plastic? The wait to know will be over in less than three weeks.
Don't miss our extensive coverage of the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks to find out more about this new supercar.

Ferrari F150, Still doesn't have an official name, but will have 950hp!

Milano Artworks
In the last few days Ferrari has shown the Enzo replacement to some very special clients, and by special i mean full of money, and seems one of those clients revealed many of the cars technical details, including power, acceleration, top speed, presentation date and the price.

We already knew the supercar would have a V12 engine but we didn't the what power figures it would have, and now we know. The gasoline engine will develop 800hp and together with the 150hp from the KERS system, we have a cool 950hp. The engine redlines at 9.100rpm and has the maximum torque available from 1.000rpm, amazing. It will do 0 to 100km/h in 3 seconds, to 200km/h in 7 seconds and will have a top speed of 370km/h (230mph).

The low weight, 1270kg (2794lbs), is achieved through the use of carbon fiber in the construction of the chassis, protected with kevlar underneath the car. Only 499 will be built, and each one will cost around 1.2 million euros (1.63 million dollars). Official presentation will take place at the Geneva Motor Show next March, with deliveries starting in December 2013.
