Citroen DSX - A new SUV from the French company

Supposedly, in the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show Citroen will reveal to the public the DSX, a mid-size SUV concept that will rival the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3. Several sources indicate that it will use the same platform as the DS5 and will have a lenght of around 4700mm. The production version should be introduced in 2014.

For now we only get to see this (bad) image taken probably from the shooting for a video advertising that will be released during or even before the Shanghai Motor Show.

The new SUV seems to have been inspired on the Citroen 9 Concept. A concept that will lose the characteristic double chevron from the French brand.

Is this the Citroen DS3 for the WTCC? [Video]

As we know the French pilot, Sébastien Loeb, retired from the World Rally Championship (WRC) this year (he still participates in some events) and nobody knows what he will do the rest of the time. Now it seems he is testing the new Citroen DS3 that will take part on the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) and could even take part in that championship for the 2014 season.

In the video below we see a Citroen DS3 driving around in a supposedly French race track. Some say it looks the regular WRC DS3 but the larger wheel arches and the lack of an air inlet in the roof of the car indicates this could really be the WTCC DS3.

Citroen C3 suffers a soft restyle, we already saw it in Brazil.

Citroen will bring the improved C3 to the Geneva Motor Show saying it is the world debut of the little car. The problem is we already saw the car. It was introduced in Brazil in the summer of last year, so lets call it an European premiere of the redesigned C3.

The front of the car was changed, with the exception of the headlamps, and now have the double chevron as the grille, LED daytime running lights in the bumper and redesigned rear tail lights.

Inside we get chrome surrounds with a thermo-coated dashboard, with strips in matte black, warm brown or Moondust grey, matching the updated upholstery.

The new VTi 68 and VTi 82 engines have an average fuel consumption between 4.3 and 4.5l/100 km, and CO2 emissions, between 99 and 104 g/km, while the VTi 120 engine, which is available with a manual or an automatic gearbox, rounds out the petrol engine offer. The new Citroen C3 is also available with five (slow) diesel engines, the HDi 70, e-HDi 70, HDi 90, e- HDi 90 and e-HDi 115.

It will be available right after the Geneva Motor Show with a Hybrid-Air version that consumes only 2.9l/100km and emits just 69g/km of CO2.

Citroen Technospace Concept. A fancy name for a car we already know, the C4 Picasso.

Are you serious Citroen? In the last few days we have seen the new C4 Picasso several times without camouflage, so we know how the car looks, why did you release several images of a car similar to the Picasso and call it the Citroen Technospace Concept?

But at least Citroen revealed more information about the upcoming model. The new C4 Picasso will have a length of 4.43m, a width of 1.83m, a height of 1.61m, and a boot capacity of 537 liters. Not bad for a car that Citroen describes as having a "Previously unseen proportions". Couldn't agree more, but they also added it has "Strong, expressive design with dynamic lines and high-tech headlamps complemented by 3D-effect tail lights inspired by the latest CITROËN concept cars".

I already said this earlier, but we knew the new MPV was going to be more efficient, part thanks to the also new EMP2 platform (don't worry, this won't destroy all electronic devices within a radius of 5km), known as the Efficient Modular Platform 2, which is 70kg lighter over the previous one. This means a record CO2 emissions level of 98g/km.

One thing was confirmed, besides the multiple technologies for enhanced comfort, Citroen will have available a high-definition 12inch panoramic screen. That is larger than many laptops.

Don't miss the official presentation at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

More pictures of the Citroen C4 Picasso in Vigo

It seems that everyday we get new pictures of the new Citroen C4 Picasso. This were also taken in Vigo, Spain, near the factory where they will be produced and i assume in this color the car doesn't look that bad. The angle and quality of the pictures also help.

The car is schedule to have its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, next month. It will be both lighter, thanks to the use of the new EMP2 platform, and more efficient because Citroen did a lot of work to reduce friction in the drivetrain. On the inside we will have a new infotainment system.

Citroen C4 Picasso caught naked again. Better images of the front.

A few days ago we got to see the next-generation Citroen C4 Picasso testing on the road with no camouflage, but the pictures weren't that good. This time we get a clearer view of the funky new front, with the lower headlights of the Picasso.

More and more pictures have been showing up about this new car, so i believe we will get the public reveal at the Geneva Motor Show, but for now it was caught testing in Vigo, Spain. And well, the front looks weirder every time i see it.

This time the car doesn't have the chrome accent around the side windows, but the worst is the windshield which seems to be too far forward making it look like an egg. While on the back we have LED taillights that resembles something taken from a VW car.

We will have to wait and see it in person to have a better idea of what were the designers thinking.

2014 Citroen C4 Picasso caught naked in the road

French magazine Autoplus showed images of the new Citroen C4 Picasso in its weekly magazine which goes on sale next week. We already saw the back of the car, but now we can see the front in a blurry screen shot taken from the magazines website.

And the front looks weird. It has the DRL positioned were the lights normally are, and the headlamps in a lower position. On the side we can see a C-shaped chrome piece and the back looks a little bit like an Audi. Presentation should take place in the Geneva Motor Show.

Citroen C5 facelift revelead in China

Another facelift revealed in China, something normal nowadays. This time we have here the Chinese face lifted Citroen C5 that now has LED taillights and a different grille with more chrome accents, which i find pretty ugly. I don't know if this will be available in Europe or not.

On the inside have a larger LCD screen for the navigation and infotainment system, while the rest remains practically unchanged from the previous model. The engines also remain the same from the last year model.

Hybrid Air, a new type of an hybrid gasoline system [Video]

While most carmakers use hybrid systems with batteries, the PSA Peugeot Citroen Group intends to follow another path, using an all-new technology combining petrol internal combustion engine and compressed air storage, "Hybrid Air".

This new technology is an important step to achieve a consumption of 2l/100km, and is expected to be fitted on B-segment models starting in 2016. On a normal car, like the Citroën C3 or Peugeot 208, fuel consumption should be of 2.9l/100km and will emit only 69g CO2/km.

The system has three modes of operation, Air, Gasoline, Combined, and is expected to be fitted on B-segment models starting in 2016. See the images and video below to have a better understanding of how the system works.

PSA VéLV concept will be the Twizy rival [Video]

This is a compact, lightweight electric vehicle, with only 2.81m long, it has 3 seats, weighs under 700kg and is considered to be a tricycle because when the car has 2 rear wheels on a track with less than 460mm it is considered as a single-wheel axle.

Power comes from a 20kW (DC)/30kW motor with an 8.5kWh electric battery for a range of 100km. The car is made of an integral one-piece body made of fiberglass and polyester resin, ABS PMMA self-coloured thermoformed body panels, with a front end and door frames made of aluminum profiles.

While the Twizy is not the huge success many expected it to be, the PSA Group also wants to enter this segment that is classified as being the solution for travels in the cities, and i quote "An electric vehicle project to change the way we travel in and around cities".
