Short News: Volvo Trucks buys the last shares from Renault Trucks

The French automaker, Renault SA, sold the last shares (6,5%) they had in Volvo AB for 1.458 million Euros ($1.92 billion Dollars) ending a connection that lasted for 11 years as the largest owner of the Swedish company.

This sale has a clear objective, Renault needs money to reduce its debt and invest in France, Russia and China. Still in the near future both companies will continue to use the same components. Renault uses the same drivelines used by the Swedish company, and the FL and FE types are basically Renault Trucks.

Renault Premium HybrysTech will be the first hybrid garbage truck in Spain

The first garbage truck with hybrid technology was launched in Sweden over four years ago, it was a Volvo FEHybrid. Used by Renova and Ragn-Sells they operated in the Gothenburg and Stockholm regions. But now it is time for Spain to have it's own truck, this time it's a Renault with the body beeing supllied by Geesinknorba.

From 0 to 20km/h (12,5mph) it uses its electric drivetrain to move the vehicle allowing a saving of 20% in fuel consumption and avoiding the emission of 12 tonnes of CO2 annually. Outside the urban area it will use the diesel engine. It will operate in Barcelona by Urbaser.

Renault Trucks CX/03 Concept [Video]

Heinz-Jürgen Löw, the President of Renault Trucks, announced back in September during the Hanover IAA Motor Show that "In June, there will be a real revolution. Our new vehicles are going to surprise you, not only in terms of their design but also their performance. We are aiming for excellence and are doing everything to attain it." and introduced the CX/03 Concept where everything was done to keep the weight low using aluminum and carbon fiber and improve the vehicle's aerodynamics.
