BMW M1 sucessor will be called the M8.

BMW is one of few that does not have an actual supercar. Mercedes has the SLS, Audi has the R8, Lexus has the LFA, Nissan the GT-R and so on. But according to AutomobileMag that will soon change.

The new sports car which will gain the M8 name, instead of the rumored M1, and it will be revealed in 2016 to celebrate BMWs centenary, although Norbert Reithofer is not really excited with this project, giving priority to the next-generation 1 and 2 series.

The M8 will use the i8 lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber chassis to save money in the research and development of a new platform. The only thing engineers will have to do is fit a V8 with around 600bhp in the same space the i8 will have a three-cylinder engine with a plug-in hybrid system.

But unfortunately this means that the Z2 roadster is dead.
