2014 Dodge Durango revealed. No more teasers! [Video]

After a few teasers Dodge has finally revealed the new Durango. A more modern, safer, efficient and technological advanced seven-seat SUV that will be available in five trims, SXT, Rallye, Limited, R/T and Citadel. Pictured above and below you have the R/T version, which is one of the sportier versions.

The exterior suffered the LED treatment, with the head lamps receiving LED day running lights (DRL) and the tail lights having a "racetrack" inspired shape with 192 LEDs. The exterior, while it looks to be a lot different, has only small changes and upgrades.

The overall shape of the SUV is basically the same, but we know have a slimmer “split cross-hair” grille, a raised front bumper that is similar to the one in the previous model and redesigned projector-beam head lamps. At the back we find a one-piece tail lamp inspired by those found in the Dodge Charger and the new Dart, with 192 LEDs.

There were also some changes made to the interior. Like most brand, the goal now is to use the largest possible number of new technologies, and the Durango isn't an exception. It now includes a new 5-inch and 8.4-inch Uconnect touch-screens, a new media hub with an SD card slot, USB outlet and auxiliary jacks, and a 7-inch TFT screen for the instrument cluster. You can even have a Blu-Ray reader with one 9-inch screen on the back of each front seat.

Forward collision warning with crash mitigation, Blind-spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Path (RCP) and detection adaptive cruise control with stop are just some of the new safety features found in the 2014 Dodge Durango.

Powering the new Durango SXT, Limited, R/T and Citadel is a 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 with 294PS (290hp or 216kW) and 353Nm (260lb/ft). The Rallye version has 299PS (295hp or 220kW). The other engine choice is the HEMI 5.7 liter V8 that has a power output of 365PS (360hp or 268kW) and 529Nm (390lb/ft) of torque that includes a cylinder-deactivation system. The standard transmission is a new eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
