Orginal 1960's TV series Batmobile sold for $4.2 million (€3.15 million)

I am sure nobody expected it but the Batmobile used in the 1966–1968 live action television show and the 1966 Batman movie was sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction that took place in in Scottsdale, Arizona, for a crazy $4.2 million (€3.15 million).

The car was based on the one-off 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car with a production cost of $250.000, equivalent of approximately $2 million (€1.5 million) today, but was sold for the nominal sum of $1 (€0,75) to George Barris, the creator of the Batmobile.

The new owner is Rick Champagne, a car collector from Arizona, which i am sure is a huge fan of the Batman. In the picture above you can see Batman (Adam West) and Robin (Burt Ward) in the car that had a 6.4liter (390inch3) Lincoln V8 connected to a B&M Hydro Automatic transmission that were later changed to those found in a Ford Galaxie.
