Rolls Royce Honors the London Olympics with Special Phantom Series II Drophead Coupés

|

For the first time since its creation in 1904, Rolls Royce replaced the traditional double R-R badges and the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy logo on one of its models, or to be more precise, three examples of the Phantom Series II Drophead Coupés, to mark the end of the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The special edition versions of the convertible model were featured in the closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games on Sunday night.
All three Phantom Series II Drophead Coupés were finished in "English White" paint while theRolls-Royce Bespoke Design Team came up with a new interpretation of the Spirit of Ecstasy with a patriotic Union Flag replacing the traditional flowing gown of the Graceful Little Goddess
Other special touches include the laurel wreath and torch on the steering wheel hub, the self-righting wheel centers featuring the words ‘London 2012’ surrounded by the Olympic motto, ‘Citius, Altius, Fortius’ (‘Faster, Higher, Stronger’) and the unique tread plates identifying each car as ‘One of Three’.
"I am delighted that Rolls-Royce Motor Cars was invited to take part in celebrating the success of the Games and it is appropriate that we should recognise this occasion with a fitting tribute," commented Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive.
The BMW Group was the official automotive sponsor of the 2012 London Olympics.
