Jaguar XJR coming to the New York International Auto Show

Seems someone at Jaguar has gone mad and decided they should only release sportier versions of their cars. We already have the XKR and the crazier XKR-S, besides the XFR and the even crazier XFR-S, and soon there will be a faster and more aggressive version of the XJ, called the XJR. what is next? The XJR-S?

Jaguar's flagship sedan will be equipped with the 5.0 liter supercharged V8 that according to the British company produces 550PS (404kW), and since it is the same engine used in the XFR-S and the XKR-S (Jaguar didn't reveal any other values) we might say it will have 680Nm (501lb/ft). The transmission should be the eight-speed automatic also found in the XFR-S.

The exterior suffers the same R treatment as all the other models with new front and rear bumpers, a different mesh for the grille, air outlets on the bonnet for better ventilation of the engine bay and larger wheels.

This is how Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's Global Brand Director, describes the new XJR "The new XJR epitomises the three pillars of technology, performance and contemporary design which the Jaguar brand stands for in the twenty-first century, while delivering new levels of dynamic ability in a luxury saloon.", and i agree, can't wait to see it against the new Maserati Quattroporte.

The XJR will have it's public premiere at the New York International Auto Show together with the new F-TYPE and the All-Wheel Drive XF and XJ sedans.
