The all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS is set to be unveiled on Tuesday, a day before the first press day of the 2013 New York International Auto Show. The luxury sedan's looks won’t be a total surprise though, as images have surfaced on the Internet, in which we see close-up details of the car, like the headlights, taillights, the front grille, front fender and interior door panel.
The most striking element of the 2014 Cadillac CTS are the LED headlights, which are prolonged on the sides of the car and continue down the front bumper with the fog lights. The overall design of the car is very Cadillac, so no surprises there, with the brand’s Art & Science styling language applied on the 2014 CTS, albeit in a bolder form.
The prominent Cadillac grille and the bulged hood with its massive creases complete the CTS’ aggressive front end. One of the pictures shows a fragment of the rear, which features vertical LED taillights and a V-shaped bumper. The only interior photo shows a detail of the right front door, with wood and leather trim, Alcantara, chrome door handle and polished aluminum. While it may be a photo of a top-spec model, there’s no denying the CTS’ interior promises to be luxurious one.
On the technical side, we know so far that the 2014 CTS will debut an all-new twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 engine churning out 420 horsepower and 430 lb-ft (583 Nm) of torque. This unit is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission and enables the 2014 CTS to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in an estimated 4.6 seconds and to reach a top speed of 170 mph (274 km/h).
The mid-size sedan will also be offered with a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6 rated at 321 horsepower, as well as a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit delivering 272 horsepower. Both can be equipped with AWD as an option. The new CTS will go on sale in fall 2013.
